FlexTekESR (Emergency Sandbag Response) is seeking a Flood Mitigation Technician to join their growing team!

At FlexTekESR, our mission is to provide innovative, efficient, and reliable sandbag solutions to protect communities and critical infrastructure from flooding and natural disasters. Sand-bagging is an essential component of flood control, ensuring the safety and well-being of those affected by floods. 

Duties & Responsibilities

The Flood Mitigation Technician will be responsible for filling 30-pound sandbags using our ESR system, stacking them, and assisting with distributing them to help stay ahead of potential flooding events.  

  • Safely and efficiently operate automated bagging unit
  • Attach bags to machine for filling
  • Tie filled bag ensuring they are secure.
  • Lift and stack filled bags onto pallets
  • Assist with loading and offloading bulk sandbags into open trucks or trailers.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and routine maintenance 
  • Report any mechanical issues associated with equipment to the Manager on duty.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by completing housekeeping requirements
  • Ensure that the loading area and other areas of the sandbagging yard are kept clean and free of debris
  • Adhere to the safety form guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Able to safely operate equipment
  • Able to lift 30-50 pounds on a repetitive basis
  • Strong ability to work well with others in a positive and professional manner
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, in varying temperatures, around moving equipment, and in loud environments (ear protection provided)
  • Able to bend/stoop, squat/crouch, push/pull, climb, kneel, twist and perform repetitivetasks for extended periods
  • Able to follow instructionsand willingness to learn
  • Responsible, reliable, and punctual.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Work is primarily conducted outdoors in various weather conditions, often in areas affected by natural disasters.
  • Hours: On-call availability, including nights and weekends, may be required to meet the demands of emergency situations.
  • Attire: Please dress appropriately with closed-toe shoes based on the weather conditions. Company T-shirts will be provided before the start date.

FlexTekESR (Emergency Sandbag Response) is seeking a Flood Mitigation Logistics Driver to join their growing team!

The Flood Mitigation Logistics Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting sandbags and related materials to areas affected by natural disasters, such as floods, using vehicles designed for heavy loads. The driver plays a crucial role in disaster response efforts ensuring timely delivery of sandbags to support emergency responders and volunteers in disaster mitigation efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate trucks, trailers, or other heavy-duty vehicles to deliver sandbags and related materials to designated disaster-affected locations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols during loading, transit, and unloading processes to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of all personnel involved. This includes following guidelines for safe vehicle operation and material handling.
  • Perform routine inspections of the truck and trailer, ensuring that all equipment is in proper working condition. Report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including quantities transported, delivery times, and any incidents or delays encountered during transit. Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Local Owner-Operator (Day Cab or Sleeper)
  • Motor Truck Insurance (General Liability or Truckload coverage required)
  • Ability to use the Onfleet Driver App (Access to download and operate the app)
  • On-Call Availability (Flexibility to respond to urgent transport needs)
  • Tandem Axle Truck (Required)
  • Sleeper Cab (Preferred, but not mandatory)
  • Experience with Heavy-Duty Vehicles (Particularly in emergency material transport)
  • Physical Capability (Ability to lift heavy materials and assist with loading/unloading sandbags)
  • Strong Communication & Coordination Skills (Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations)

FlexTekESR (Emergency Sandbag Response) is seeking a Flood Mitigation Technician Supervisor to join their growing team!

The Flood Mitigation Technician Supervisor will oversee the Flood Mitigation Technician (FMT) Associates, ensuring that sandbags are filled, sealed, stacked, and distributed efficiently and safely. The Supervisor will provide leadership and guidance to the team while ensuring compliance with safety protocols, productivity standards, and quality control procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of FMT Associates, ensuring they are properly trained, motivated, and working safely and efficiently.
  • Check in technicians using the iPad system and assign them to designated trucks/stations.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly secured to vehicles before departure to maintain safety and prevent damage.
  • Oversee the operation of the ESR system for bag filling, ensuring proper attachment of bags, sealing of filled bags, and correct stacking procedures.
  • Enforce expected productivity standards, including a goal of 10 sandbags per minute per team.
  • Rotate teams approximately every 15 minutes to avoid fatigue and maintain a steady workflow.
  • Assign breaks to FMTs and ensure replacements are in place to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Monitor and manage the flow of community members in the distribution line to ensure an organized and safe process.
  • Manage the activation and shutdown of the hydraulic and conveyor systems to ensure safe and efficient workflow.
  • Oversee trailer rotation, including the removal of empty trailers and the placement of loaded or new trailers to maintain continuous operations.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to team members, addressing concerns promptly while promoting a positive, encouraging work environment.
  • Ensure all equipment is operated safely and that all team members follow safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Perform or supervise routine quality control checks and basic maintenance of sandbagging machinery. Report on any mechanical issues to the Manager on duty.
  • Ensure all filled sandbags meet required standards for weight, sealing, and stacking.
  • Supervise the loading and offloading of bulk sandbags into trucks or trailers to ensure timely and accurate distribution.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area, including the sandbagging yard and loading zones.
  • Provide regular updates to the Manager regarding equipment status, inventory levels, staffing, and any issues that arise.
  • Help prioritize tasks and team assignments during high-demand periods or emergency situations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience in a similar industrial, warehouse, or emergency response environment.
  • Ability to safely operate and supervise the use of sandbagging machinery and related equipment
  • Physical ability to lift and move 30–50 pounds repeatedly, and perform tasks such as bending, lifting, and squatting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and support a diverse team.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-demand environment, especially during emergency flood response efforts.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safety, productivity, and operational standards.
  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible with a strong work ethic.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
